Summary: We were very happy with our home stay. The two sisters who run the property were very kind and accommodating. I stayed here with my niece in May and we had a wonderful time. The thing people should remember is that this is basically a home stay - it is not a hotel, so you should not expect the amenities of a hotel. But if you want a unique and delightful experience, all very near the Great Wall, this is for you! The sisters do not speak English, but they have translation apps on their phone that work pretty well, plus they have a family member who will speak to you on the phone and give you info. We wanted to be at the Great Wall in Mutianyu when it opened to beat the hordes from Beijing, and it was perfect for that. While it is too far to walk to the entrance, the sisters dropped us off and picked us up. One sister even took us for a walk to the top of a hill with beautiful views and you could see the Great Wall in the distance. They also walked us over to a small restaurant for dinner where we had a delightful meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and their warm hospitality, and I intend to stay here again on my next return to the Great Wall. Keep in mind that a taxi ride from Beijing to their little village (they met us on the street a very short walk from their Home Stay) is about 60 USD each way. We arranged for the driver to pick us up for the return, too. It was worth every penny to stay here and to be at The Great Wall with almost no other people.
