Positive: We felt as if we were visiting friends. Bedhot and his team are incredibly friendly and kind, and we were truly happy to meet the whole team. We went together to see the Merapi volcano lava flow, and Samsun took care of us throughout the entire trekking experience — he was our hero. 😀 We had a lot of fun with him and with the driver, Toro, along the way. Antone, the driver who took us to various places, was exceptionally attentive and friendly. During our two weeks in Indonesia, we didn’t meet any other driver as considerate as he was. The atmosphere on the terrace was wonderfully friendly — we enjoyed having coffee and chatting with the other guests and the staff. We are sorry we couldn’t stay longer. Our heartfelt thanks to the entire team for everything. We already miss you guys.

Positive: Amazing authentic Javanese homestay. I was made to feel like family, all staff were so nice and friendly. The owner Mr Bedhot was amazing too! Even ended up on a night out with him and a few other guests. Very accommodating and helpful. The staff can organize pretty much any excursion and taxi etc. I will definitely be back. 😁

Positive: Absolutely GEM ✨ can’t explain how lovely this place is — the room is so comfortable, the Javanese architecture was beautiful, the location is in the rice field/village area but it’s still super close to the city and popular areas. The staff help with everything - from tours, to recommendations, to great conversation and they really treat you like friends. I feel so lucky we chose this place and we will come back every time we’re ever in Jogja. I can’t really imagine it can be any better 😁 the food options are tasty, the price is good for everything including the drivers and tours. The staff speak exceptional English, which is something helpful and even other languages as well. We used the family room and it was huge, with two bathrooms and a bath + 3 big double beds, lovely terrace and free coffee and tea. They even have bikes and kids toys and great books to choose from in the chill area. Simply go there and they take care of absolutely everything.

Negative: There is nothing negative to say at all!

Positive: We had a great time at Bedhot‘s Homestay. All of the staff was very kind, approachable and knowledgeable. They supported us in organizing transport and made great recommendations for places to visit. In fact, we went to a place we wouldn’t have found without them and which turned out to be the highlight of our time in Yogyakarta: Candi Selogriyo! There are always 3 options for breakfast you get to choose from which we‘re all tasty (although portions could have been a little more generous :-) ). As we had to leave at 6am due to an early morning flight they even made the effort to prepare a sandwich for us. We also got the chance to chat to Bedhot himself who gave us some suggestions for our onward journey. I guess the photos on here speak for themselves as the place is absolutely gorgeous with all the lush greenery around and very quiet. I cannot agree with the reviews that said the place was „basic“. We thought it was well taken care of and great value for money. It might be a little bit outside the center, yes, but since the city is very hectic, we considered this a plus since Grab takes you there within 15 min for 20.000-30.000R. We would return anytime.

Positive: Perfect comfy place. The staff is super friendly and kind. They are always eager to help with anything. We needed to check out early at 5:30 am and they prepared toasts for us so we could eat on the way :). Thanks for the amazing hospitality!

Negative: Poor lighting in the room, no bedside table, no headboard, no additional sheet or blanket to cover up during the night. No hand towel. Sink was in the bedroom. No shelf near the sink for toiletries.

Positive: My late grandparents lived in Yogyakarta in the 1950s, and I wanted to get a sense of the kind of house they called home. This homestay is a charming and authentic old Javanese family house. It felt like stepping back in time, giving me a deep connection to my family roots. The staff is very kind and welcoming. The rooms are small wooden cottages, each equipped with airconditioning. The shower had warm water. The on-site restaurant serves reasonably priced Indonesian food, with accommodations for allergies. Breakfast is included in the room rate. The night before, staff offers 3 breakfast options, letting you choose your dish and time. The omelet and banana pancake were both excellent. They also offer a laundry service, including both express and standard options at reduced rates.

Negative: The staff could easily fix a couple of issues: the mosquito net had many large holes, letting mosquitoes in, and the room lacked blankets—just a small bedspread that didn’t fully cover the bed. A bigger issue is that the rooms are not soundproof, despite what’s advertised on Booking.com. I could hear other guests talking, laughing, and coughing. Twice during my first night at the homestay, I had to ask noisy guests on the terrace to be quiet, while management did nothing. When I complained, the staff simply said, "They leave tomorrow," as if that solved anything. Furthermore, roosters crowed from 1:00 to 9:00 AM, and Islamic prayer and music from 3:30 to 5:30 AM further disrupted my sleep. At 7:00 AM, Islamic prayer was broadcasted through speakers again, making it impossible to sleep in. If you’re a light sleeper, I cannot recommend this place.
