Positive: Location was perfect for exploring the beautiful town of Stilo. 10 minute walk to La Catolica. Proprietor was communicative and available. Fantastic restaurant almost next door- La Bocca del Re.

Positive: The owners were so welcoming and the room was amazing with a view over the gorge down to the sea. Stilo town is beautiful and hilly, the Palazzo was typical of older style properties with much character. We were lucky to be there for the setting up of Republic day which involved beautiful designs outside the churches on the pavement made with pulses and rice.

Negative: The breakfast at the bar opposite was very basic and we were charged a little more each day, real shame as the rest was so good.

Positive: Stilo is a great place to stay a couple of days - folk were so friendly, helpful and genuine. There are lots of things to see and explore. The Norman Fort (climb & view) were a highlight! The B&B was wonderfully situated and the host was delightful, hospitable and generous (even if our Italian was poor and his English non-existent!)

Positive: The proprietors were charming and helpful. The room was huge, with a balcony facing the view to the sea (unfortunately, fog and haze obscured it while we were there). We received ample communication from the owners regarding check-in (see below re: parking). Breakfast was not served in the building, but we each received a coupon for €2.50 toward breakfast at the bar immediately across the street. While we were out in the morning, we left the windows open in the room, and a strong breeze knocked a vase of flowers off a nearby table and broke it. We, of course, offered to pay, but the owner wouldn't hear of it - very kind.

Negative: The Palazzo is on a tiny piazza with only 3 or 4 parking spaces. After an email exchange with the owner, we decided to drop our luggage off and park below in a larger, more wide-open piazza. Lluckily, just as we arrived, a car departed and we were able to park there. The owners should specify this limitation in their description or in their check-in communication. Would also suggest addition of a handrail to the first set of steps up to the first floor, where the room is located.

Positive: Extremely friendly hosts who communicated through google translate. The atmosphere in this old stone building with thick walls is something else. It has got to be experienced. It matched the whole experience in this sleepy, friendly town where the locals actually greeted you with bon giourno when you passed each other in the street.

Negative: We knew beforehand that breakfast is not served so we adjusted to that. Had coffee in the cosy bar opposite the Street.
