Positive: Beautiful setting, extremely quiet road, no noise/light intrusion. Home decor was lovely and so nice to see so many original features sympathetically restored. The Brook side setting was idyllic and so much love and care has gone into maintaining the small gardens. Bird feeders were a nice touch too - loved sitting watching the all the finches (Greenfinch, chaffinch, goldfinch), sparrows, blackbirds and doves and gassing with the neighbours as they came by. Every morning/evening I’d be sat out there coffee/wine planning/reviewing my day. Elderly next door neighbour was a sweetie - interesting stories - and allowed us to park our second car outside her home. Also met the local Leyburn gin distillery lady walking her dog (their spiced rum and signature gin is THE best so it was a fortuitous meeting). A week simply wasn’t enough. Would definitely return to the cottage.

Negative: I have arthritic fingers and struggled with opening the key safe. Not having an iron or hairdryer for a week wasn’t ideal although, given the nature of our break, we made do. If the cottage comes in for a do-over in the future, I would recommend replacing the large oven with a dual air fryer and using the space for a washer/dryer for those on longer breaks.
