Summary: Quiet and peaceful location. Lovely building. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast excellent quality and choice. Love to stay again!

Summary: Firstly this is not a hotel. It is a pub with rooms. We arrived and were surprised as we were expecting a hotel. It’s in a lovely village and the beach nearby is stunning. We booked a Junior Suite and were shown to our room, again surprised as it was basically a standard room with a small sofa at the end of the bed which in my opinion should not be classed as a suite. The room was basic but clean. We were overlooking the car park and there was literally no privacy, there were no blinds so we had to close the thick curtains which made the room really dark so not pleasant to sit in. We’d booked for dinner in the restaurant the day before arrival and asked for a quiet corner as my husband is peg fed and can feel quite conscious. They shown us to the table which was in the bar area not the restaurant next to a busy entrance, a member of staff called it the dog area. I asked could we be moved only to be told no the restaurant is fully booked and they seemed really put out that I’d even asked. It seems they accommodate locals more than paying guests. It was really disappointing. We enquired about other places to eat and they recommended The Landings who were also booked up but on hearing our story accommodated us which was lovely of them and the food was too. We should have stayed 2 nights but 1 was enough. We complained but to no avail they were simply not interested. Which is very unprofessional. It’s 3 star at best and very overpriced. At breakfast they charge extra for lattes!

Summary: Great hotel in a very quiet location. Food in the hotel is very good & there's a beach within 800 yds. Staff were great & helpful. Lots of places to visit reasonably close - castles, Durham & Morpeth.
