Positive: The host was very attentive and kind, and gave us many short lifts in her car. She was always available to assist us in any matter, including Takkubin, and was very knowledgable on Otaru and Japan. The place is large and everything is provided for, including a well-equipped kitchen and a ocean view.

Negative: Not much. It was clear that some equipment was a bit old.

Positive: I loved the space. There was a large living room and fully equipped kitchen with a fridge. There was also a large bedroom and plenty of cupboard space. A good sized area in the garden had a table and chairs. The view from the house was a long distance view of the sea with (sadly) some high-rise buildings now being in the way. However, the elevated position was excellent and the spacious rooms were very welcome.

Negative: The days of our visit were very hot (over 30 degrees). The owner provided some standing fans but the house was extremely warm (not her fault). Air conditioning would have helped a lot. There were heaters available if it had been winter.

Summary: The house is well outside the centre of town, not within walking distance. This didn't bother us.

Positive: We had a great time staying at Bay View House. The view lives up to its name and a beautiful thing to rise and open the curtains each morning. It had all the amenities we required for our stay which allowed us to have breakfast every morning to enjoy the view. Our host was amazing and helped us with any requests!! Ten minutes walk to train station( important for us) and 15 minutes the other direction due to the hill. Easy striking range for Kokusai and Kiroro!!

Summary: A beautiful place to wake up, take in the view and imerse into the Hokkaidō pace… relaxed 😊.

Positive: It’s just an insane amount of space compared to all the matchboxes we lived in back in Japan.)) I’d love to go back there in the summer to enjoy the view from the terrace. The hostess is the brightest soul in all of Hokkaido. Thank you, Manami!
