Baros Maldives is a small island close to Male’ city set in a turquoise lagoon with villas secluded in palm-shaded glades by a white sandy beach or perched over-water with private sun deck. Many of the elegant, sandstone and timber, palm-thatched villas have their own plunge pool and some have a spa bath too. Every villa is private, has an espresso machine and a wine and mini-bar; in-villa entertainment includes a flat-screen TV and iPod dock. Positive: Excellent location – The resort is only 25 minutes from the airport, making the transfer quick and convenient. Romantic and cozy atmosphere – The island is perfect for couples looking for a peaceful and intimate getaway. Beautiful villas and landscaping – The resort is stunning, featuring beautifully maintained landscaping, modern luxury villas, stylish interiors, and spacious rooms. Considering the price (around USD 1,100 per night, including half board and airport transfers), it offers excellent value for money. Outstanding customer service – Our personal assistant, Sam, was incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay, making the experience even more enjoyable. Great beach and snorkeling – The beach is beautiful, and the snorkeling is excellent, with plenty of marine life to explore. Overwater Villa – The villa was absolutely amazing, luxurious, and spacious. The private pool is noticeably larger than those at many other resorts. Food quality – The food was delicious, and the breakfast buffet offered a good variety with beverages included. Recommendation – I highly recommend experiencing both villa types (for example, two nights in the Overwater Villa and two nights in the Beach Villa), as each offers a unique and enjoyable experience.

The dinner menu is somewhat limited, including only one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert. Beverages are not included with dinner—not even water. Positive: Our 3-night stay at Baros Maldives was truly exceptional, and before we even left, we were already planning our next visit! From arrival to departure, everything was seamless. A Baros representative welcomed us at the airport, assisted us to the speedboat, and another staff member even stayed with us during airport check-in on our departure until everything was completed smoothly. As first time visitors to the Maldives, we really appreciated this thoughtful level of service. The resort is only about a 25-minute speedboat ride from the airport, making it very convenient, especially for shorter stays. Despite being so close, the island feels incredibly peaceful and secluded. We were amazed by the marine life! you can easily spot reef sharks and plenty of colorful fish right from the beach villas. The food was consistently delicious. Breakfast had a good selection of both Oriental and Continental dishes. Lunch portions were generous enough for two people to share, and dinner at Lime Restaurant offered a nice variety of Asian and Western options. We also enjoyed cocktails at Sails Bar and The Lighthouse Restaurant, both of which had a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. Our villa was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The bed was amazing, and the housekeeping did an outstanding job every day for keeping our villa clean and tidy. What truly makes Baros special is its people. Every staff member greeted us with genuine smiles and made the effort to remember our names, making the service feel more warm and personal without being intrusive. A special thanks to our villa host, Sam, for making our stay sooo effortless. She was attentive, thoughtful, and even acknowledged our delayed celebration, making us feel genuinely special throughout our stay. Baros is the perfect place if you’re looking for tranquility, exceptional hospitality, and incredible marine life. Positive: Absolutely loved it all. Fantastic and relaxing. Not crowded, and really an adults only island, so primarily couples. Facilities were great, our Butler (Jinah) was great. Easy communication via WhatsApp, with WiFi everywhere. Dolphin cruise was lovely and just a great place to relax.

Negative: It sounds ridiculous but there wasn't really anything.
