Positive: The staff were absolutely wonderful! We were served by a delightful young lady in the restaurant on the Saturday night, she was so cheery, upbeat and totally made the evening!

Negative: We stayed in room 214 and 216 and in both rooms, the mattresses were so lumpy and probably the most uncomfortable mattresses we have ever slept on. The pillows were equally very uncomfortable. The breakfast was rather unappetising in the morning too.

Summary: Loved the old building feel and the history! The staff were absolutely wonderful, but very uncomfortable mattresses.

Positive: Staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had was very comfortable and had a good cleanliness level. Furthermore, one can also go for a nice walk around the grounds, plus, finding the indoor pool was also a nice addition to our stay. Plenty of spaces to park as well if coming by car.

Negative: If one had to nitpick the entry road had a few potholes? Otherwise, no complaints.

Positive: The location was exactly what we wanted. The food standard and presentation was exceptional. The bedroom was spotless. All the staff we came into contact with couldn’t have been more friendlier or helpful. Nothing was too much bother. Young staff are being trained professionally which was lovely to see. My only criticism is the lack of bannister between breakfast room and dining room. There are three very shallow step steps with nothing to hold on to. High heels and a glass of wine in hand fid not feel safe. Secondly, it would be a nice touch to have bags for wet swimsuits. Towels are available from reception and left in changing room but a small plastic bag would do the job.

Negative: There are a few worn and tired areas but that’s to be expected in such a classic building.

Summary: We will definitely return.
