Summary: Hotel Balmacara looks nice at first but upon closer inspection, falls short. Our room was surprisingly small and the amenities in the room were sparse. Cheap instant coffee, poorly working fans, and a used spoon in the tea area were not impressive. The restaurant was nice and the breakfast was great, but otherwise it was not a relaxing stop on our trip to Skye.

Summary: Our room was in the newer wing and had a great view. The room was large, clean and modern. We stayed for three nights and had dinner at the restaurant. The restaurant was was very good given the few options available.

Summary: Things were clean, staff was pleasant. The common areas were a bit run down, and there were strange design choices and amenities in the room. The sink was tiny, like barely big enough for a glass of water tiny, but had a firehose for a faucet. Limited towels and no washcloths. Could not get the room cool enough with the thermostat. Good location, but pricey for the quality.

Summary: Hotel is well run as a second tier hotel. The restaurant serves very good food. The place is a bit understaffed. Breakfast was average.

Summary: The hotel’s location is beautiful. The property was clean and well maintained. We had delicious meal for dinner and drinks from the bar. Overall a great place to stop on your way to or from the Isle of Skye. We would not hesitate to stay there again!

Summary: Our family loved our stay here, that hotel was a perfect jumping off point for the Isle of Sky. Food was amazing and the staff was top notch!

Summary: Our room was clean when we arrived, but we were having difficulty with figuring out the controls to the lights in the room. The shower was nice, and dinner tasted good. The hotel has a strange layout and it was difficult to find room 25, which isn’t on signs in the hotel. Our hotel room also got quite warm at night, I tried to open the windows but it didn’t do much.

Summary: The hotel has recently been refurbished,. Our room was lovely—tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Although it was on the ground floor and overlooked the campsite across the road rather than having a scenic view, that didn’t detract from our stay. Breakfast was excellent, with the scrambled eggs being a particular highlight. The staff were attentive, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. We only stayed for one night, but it was just what we needed. There was also plenty of parking, which was very convenient. We would highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay again.
