Positive: Wow , what can I say . The hosts picked me up from the airport, awesome. My villa was excellent, clean , amazing private pool , awesome balcony with sunset views to die for ( see photos) . The staff were friendly and helpful. The location exceeded my expectation. Overall a 10/10 location.

Positive: Beautiful, thoughtfully designed resort with lush greenery and charming villas. Our highlights were showering under the stars and the magical sunsets from the balcony. The minimalist amenities (yoga mat instead of TV) fit the concept well. Food was fresh and high quality, breakfast was great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The WhatsApp communication with the team and the personal touch from the owners (and the resort cats) made the stay feel intimate.

Negative: Sets the bar so high it might ruin future stays elsewhere :) The beach directly at the property isn’t the best, but there are plenty of great options around the island.

Positive: Our stay at Balihao was truly one of the highlights of our time in the Philippines. We stayed in one of the pool villas and it was beautiful in every way. The landscaping throughout the property is lush and vibrant, and from our villa we had a peaceful view of the ocean on the north side of the island. It felt private, calm, and perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings. What really sets this resort apart is the people. The staff were the friendliest we encountered during our entire trip. Every interaction felt genuine and thoughtful. The owners are incredibly kind and clearly care deeply about Camiguin and the surrounding community. They go out of their way to support local initiatives and create meaningful experiences for their guests. If you stay here, I cannot recommend enough booking the cultural tour through the resort. It was the most meaningful part of our visit. Spending time with local residents, learning about farming, watching rope made from coconut husks, and sharing a homemade community lunch gave us a perspective we never would have gotten otherwise. It was authentic, humbling, and unforgettable. The resort also arranged private transportation for us to tour the island, which made everything seamless. I would encourage future visitors to really pay attention during the drive itself. Seeing everyday life unfold across the island was one of the most impactful parts of the experience. Island life does come with occasional brief power outages, which the resort transparently mentions on their website. We actually appreciated this. It felt like a reminder that you are somewhere real and not in a manufactured environment. It encouraged us to slow down and fully embrace the rhythm of the island. Positive: The restaurant is fantastic. Food is locally sourced, unique and fresh. Service is excellent. Every meal was amazing with no complaints. Rooms are large and spacious. Decor is gorgeous. Private pool was an absolute treat. Attention to detail is notable. The owners have taken the time and care to ensure every small plate, chair and painting is fitting with the aesthetic. They were warm and generous on welcome and looked after every need we had. Staff assisted with every request and ensured our stay was magical!! Would highly recommend to anyone considering staying.

Positive: The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. We were able to get motorbikes to rent quickly and they were in great shape.

Negative: Food was good but wish they had white rice, not the local black rice. I am sure foodie would enjoy the different foods but we enjoy standard dishes. Also the french press coffee was not our favorite, would prefer basic coffee. Wifi is our room was non existent so we could not do our necessary research.

Summary: Enjoyed the property for a relaxing few days.

Positive: Balihao is an absolutely beautiful retreat on Camiguin! Each villa feels like its own little hidden paradise — spacious, private, and surrounded by lush gardens that the owner’s mother designed herself! The Swiss engineering mixed with the Filipino nature is truly special. The restaurant’s food is delicious, and the peaceful atmosphere makes Balihao the perfect place to relax and recharge. I really enjoyed the yoga shala down by the pool, it is a stunning spot to unwind and connect with nature. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how incredible the staff are — warm, welcoming, and always greeting you by name and a smile. It truly feels like a family atmosphere. If you’re looking for a serene getaway with a personal touch, Balihao is the perfect choice! Thank you Lara, Karen, Judie and Kabat!!

Negative: Only that I traveled during monsoon season, so the first four days weren't perfect weather. But once the rain left, my goodness... what a paradise!
