Positive: It was a thrill to be in the farmhouse after learning a bit of the history. Francesco has put so much work into it, and it was clearly a labor of love. The history and setting make Podere Merlo a special place. The hosts are generous and trusting to open up their library also with old books and magazines in several languages. The rooms are immaculately clean.

Negative: It would be helpful to have a sign on the opposite side of the road also (across from the driveway) since we missed the driveway initially.

Summary: A lovely Emilia farmhouse from the 1800s which has been modernized with every current comfort.

Positive: A charming family farmhouse just outside the centre of Parma. The property has been lovingly restored and our room was very spacious and comfortable as well as full of character. Francesco and Angelica were very attentive hosts and we very much enjoyed our welcome glass of Prosecco and a wonderful breakfast.

Positive: We enjoyed everything about the property. It is a beautifully restored medieval farmhouse and Francesco was the most gracious of hosts, even though we showed up earlier than we said we would. Our room was very comfortable and large. Breakfast was amazing with the best cappuccino coffee. Francesco helped us organize a tour of a Parmigiano Reggiano factory and gave us fabulous recommendations for restaurants and museums in Parma. The location is great with plenty of parking if you’re traveling by car.
