Positive: We spent the weekend in an old bunker—solid, restored, and full of history. Outside, it looked like a quiet farm in a tiny village in France; inside, it felt like a living museum. By the kitchen window, spent shell casings sat in a glass case, tucked just behind the teapot. A rusty combat helmet lay on the lawn, weathered by time. Barbed wire still lined the window—a silent reminder of the past. The place was calm, almost cocoon-like, but every corner spoke of history. I’m a history buff, and I was completely in my element. The hosts were welcoming, serving breakfast before we left. We said our goodbyes, already knowing—we’d be back.
