Summary: This is a unique hotel in the middle of Chautauqua Institution. We had a fantastic room and thoroughly enjoyed the history and surroundings.

Summary: What a surprise we found at the Athenaeum, a grand hotel from the 19th century, on beautiful Lake Chatauqua. On arrival, we found ourselves entering a gated community spread along the lake shore, with wonderful 19th and 20th century summer homes, within walking distance of the hotel. The entry to the hotel opens into a large traditional open lobby where the front desk sits opposite a wide staircase to the second and third floors, alongside a comfortable bar area where one can order food and cocktails. The rooms were clean and comfortable, which served our needs well. The staff were polite and eager to assist us. It was a wonderful experience to stay at the Athenaeum.

Summary: This Grand Lady was a very impressive vintage hotel with charm and elegance. Room was much more updated than expected, staff couldn’t have been nicer and the grounds were spectacular!

Summary: Not for the typical traveler. That said, it's a beautiful setting, but the accommodations are a bit rough. Could be very stunning if they achieve their fundraising goals and renovate it from top to bottom.

Summary: Loved staying on the grounds of chautauqua institution and enjoyed lower prices because it’s off-season. the rooms were clean, and a continental breakfast was included

Summary: The continental breakfast was healthy and varied. Our room was lovely, it faced the lake and had a beautiful view. The staff was accommodating and very friendly. Perfect for a mid week stay as a quiet getaway.
