Positive: We had a fantastic stay here during our honeymoon. The staff were incredibly helpful and super friendly, making us feel welcome from the first moment. The place feels like a true jungle paradise — peaceful and relaxing. The rooms were super clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious. The location is also perfect, very close to all the main attractions in Sigiriya. We highly recommend this place and would happily stay here again!

Positive: Very nice resort. One of the best places we stayed in sri lanka on our 3 week holiday. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the meals were tasty. Breakfast in particular had a lot of options. Clean rooms. Nice pool. Would highly recommend.

Positive: For us the highlight of Atha Resort were the bar staff, who were really friendly and attentive, and the food (fabulous, generous breakfasts and a nice lunch and evening meal - a la carte fortunately, not buffet). Ravindu/Chooty was always so smily, day and night, and nothing was too much trouble. The bar is right by the pool, which is nice to have after a strenuous climb up Lion Rock, which isn't far away. We also liked watching the birds from our balcony - there were several peacocks and other smaller birds who hopped around. Kettle in the rooms.

Negative: We didn't feel the "welcome process" was well done. We arrived hot and tired from our 4-hour drive, and before anything else we were asked for our passports, which were in our suitcases. Instead of saying we could show them later, we had to produce them then and there, which meant opening our cases in the entrance to the hotel, which was embarrassing (rummaging around among personal items and clothing!) and rather unnecessary and untrusting. We were dropped off by a driver, are all over 60, and were hardly likely to do a flit without paying given we had another 3 days there. It was the only place we stayed in Sri Lanka that demanded the actual passports on arrival. The "welcome drink" followed, but it wasn't a good start or friendly welcome and we suggest the owners review this policy. Generally, the bar staff were much friendlier than those on reception, who we felt were quite aloof and preoccupied with other things. Other things were that water is supplied in plastic bottles rather than filtered drinking water, which was supplied in all our other hotels. We really think the hotel ought to be considering the environment more and doing everything they can to down on plastic. It doesn't take much, and there were plenty of staff to do this. One final thing was the design of the rooms/bathroom - there is there is nowhere in the bathroom to put anything! No surfaces at all around the sink to put sponge bags etc. The same was the case in the bedroom - nowhere to put clothes (though there was a kind of additional alcove area, which seemed a bit of a waste of space as the bedroom was quite small). I realise it's too late to change now, but when the bedrooms are remodelled it is worth bearing in mind travellers need somewhere to put their things and don't want to have to rummage around in their suitcases, which are on the floor, to get whatever they need.

Positive: All staff were excellent especially the Waiting on staff, Chameera and Ravindu.The chef Noshan went above and beyond in support of a dietary requirement needed at the time. Pool was amazing and breakfast was incredible.

Negative: Everything was excellent

Positive: A very enjoyable stay, we recommend it. Very friendly and professional service, from the restaurant to the reception and other staff. The place is very clean and well-maintained. We recommend the services of the hotel driver, Dammika. He showed us all the attractions in the area and drove us halfway across the country, making us feel like we were in good hands the entire time :)

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel completely at home with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches throughout. Our private pool area was pure bliss — peaceful, private, and surrounded by nature. We also loved the delicious meals, especially the local dishes packed with flavour and freshness. It was the perfect base to explore Sigiriya and unwind in comfort after a day of adventure. Atha Resort exceeded all our expectations. We only wish we had stayed longer!

Positive: Atha Resort exceeded our expectations. The property is beautiful, the staff extremely friendly, and the breakfast with local delicacies simply outstanding. Our driver from the hotel, Dammika, always took us safely from place to place with a warm smile. Communication with the hotel staff was at times a bit difficult, leading to several misunderstandings, which is why we are deducting one point.
