Positive: We loved our stay at Aroha Taveuni Beachfront Bures. It is a peaceful, beautiful beachfront property with comfortable rooms, lovely views and a relaxed island feel. The staff were warm, helpful and well organised, including with our airport transfers and advice about local activities. It was the perfect base for exploring Taveuni — waterfalls, coastal walks, snorkelling — while still feeling quiet and restful when we came back each day. Highly recommended, and we would happily return.

Positive: Our week-long stay was terrific. Katherine and Rod, the owners, are wonderful hosts. They have built something very special. The staff, the rooms and the setting are great. The moment we landed we were greeted by their driver. He helped us with our luggage and within 20 minutes we arrived at the resort. We were greeted by Katherine who showed us around and helped us with planning activities and took care of all the related coordination and bookings. One important note is that at least ~24 hours’ notice is needed for most activities so keep that in mind. The tours we chose were the Lavena coastal walk, a visit to Bobby’s farm, Bird watching and snorkeling on Rainbow reef (twice). Everything was outstanding. Many of the operators only take cash which we were able to get at an ATM that is in a town about 10 minutes way by car. We found the location to be perfect. It is positioned within walking distance of the waterslide, the International Date Line and the hike to the White Cross (about a 1.5-hour hike). There are also a couple of small stores and a bakery only a 5-minute walk away. The view across the channel is stunning and we enjoyed beautiful sunsets looking over its expanse most evenings. The only pier on the island is adjacent to the resort. We had fun watching the ferries come and go. It might be possible to catch one to Vanua Levu, but we didn’t explore that option. The onsite restaurant was good and the service was outstanding. The menu has a mixture sandwiches, pizza from a wood fired oven (not to be missed), seafood and 3 unique daily Fijian specials. We never had a problem getting a table, but some planning may be needed during the busy season. A continental breakfast is included in the room rate. They will also pack a to go lunch if you need one for a tour. Finally, I want to acknowledge the staff. They couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly and they seemed to genuinely care about our comfort. They helped make our stay unforgettable.

Positive: The owners are very hospitable, and are willing to help arrange tours. The room was very clean and the view of the ocean was great. The food at the restaurant was tasty and priced fairly for being right at the resort. We enjoyed the free use of the kayaks. Unfortunately the weather was too bad to snorkel, so I can't speak to the reef there.

Negative: The pictures were pretty accurate for the most part, other than the pictures of the pool. They are taken in a way that is a little deceiving. They don't reflect the fact that the pool and deck are actually attached to the back side of the owner's house, with the living room windows overlooking the pool. And you walk past the front side of the owners house to get to the restaurant every time. So things are a bit cozy that way. Again, the owners are nice, so we didn't find it to be that much of an issue, but just know it's more like an airbnb in that regard.

Positive: Big Bures with a comfy bed and beautiful outdoor shower. It is very quiet and private and very clean. You just need to know that the pool, which is with a beautiful view and very clean is at the owners side, so it feels a bit like being on their private deck. As the location is nice and quiet, you have a little supermarket within 3min walk, there is not much else. So for Dinner you only have the option to use their Restaurant. The staff is extremely friendly, but the food is mostly very basic. The fixed menu is basically Pizza and Burger as most other options were never available such as fish or salad. They also have 2 main courses changing daily. Overall it is missing some fresh and Fiji style food.
