Positive: The location is fantastic, a very short walk from the seafront and overlooking the beautiful Steyne Garden. The staff are both professional and friendly and the breakfast is of a high standard. It's a very traditional Sussex seaside hotel.

Negative: The bathroom floor was dirty and the old-fashioned bathroom suite was not a positive. The toilet handle ended up breaking. I have stayed at The Ardington before and only booked this time because it was noticeably cheaper than the alternative. I cannot put my finger on it, but there is something odd, unpleasant and even sinister in the atmosphere in certain parts of the hotel and once again I left not wanting to go back.

Summary: On balance not a great experience so find somewhere different is my advice

Positive: Excellent restaurant. Comfortable bed. Room had all facilities.

Negative: Parking arrangements. Very busy road outside. No lift and narrow, windy corridors to room.

Summary: Restaurant was our highlight.
