Positive: Despite having no air conditioning, the apartment stayed very cool during our stay despite the temperature outside hitting 30 degrees C on multiple consecutive days. Its secret weapon is a basement which is 7 degrees cooler than the rest of the apartment. Nonetheless some night time window openings are needed to keep temperatures under control. The rest of the apartment had very comfortable beds, and it was clean and modern throughout. It was great to see electric charger was available even though we were driving a petrol car. Parking was simple, with plenty of space around each car. We would consider renting an electric car next time round. Laundry was reasonably priced and clean clothes were delivered two hours after pickup.

Negative: There was no oven! We arrived with pizzas, sausages and fries to cook, and we instead had to manage with the microwave oven. We managed, but suffice to say our pizzas and fries were soggy rather than crispy. Sure enough there’s no oven listed in the facilities list, but you don’t inspect these lists for things that aren’t there, you just assume a kitchen has an oven! There were no cupboard to store food. They had space on the wall either side of the cooker extractor fan to install cupboards if they wanted to, but we had to leave our food on open worktops and table tops. This looked untidy. There’s no shelf in the shower. I had to precariously balance my shower gel bottle on the shower assembly and it regularly fell onto the ground. There are no coasters or table mats. I had to protect the table tops from hot plates using drying towels.

Summary: The coolest apartment on a hot day!

Positive: The location was perfect - very close to the lake and other beautiful areas as well as restaurants, shops, tourist information and transport facilities. The property had lots of character and was very comfortable and our host, Janez, was extremely friendly and helpful.

Negative: There was nothing we didn’t like
