Positive: I never leave reviews like this, so if you are considering staying here, PLEASE read the entire review. Of the 45 countries I have either lived or visited, Slovenia and Apartma Saint Thomas is in the top three. The most serene and breathtaking views that are only rivaled by Glacier National Park and Victoria Falls. My wife has wanted to visit Saint Thomas church for years and cried when she saw that the apartment was literally right next to it! The way the fog moved in over the mountains and you could look down on top of them, the peace and stillness, the deep lush forest, the rolling meadows, and the church itself is something that has to be experienced first hand. There is no way to adequately put its beauty into words. It almost seems impossible that a place like this could actually exist. Suzann was absolutely AMAZING. She is so kind and loving and made it feel like we were visiting family. We instantly had a connection and were so sad when we had to leave. Suzann made the apartment a home. There were incredible touches she added, coffee maker with coffee, there was a full kitchen, and fresh grapes and apples in a bowl that looked like they may have been grown there. As a guy, these are not things I usually pay attention to, but it felt so welcoming, I couldn't help but notice it. If you need a place to escape the maddening crowd and find your soul, THIS is the place.

Negative: Some things to be aware of: My wife was dubious about staying here as she had read in online forums (mainly from photographers) that visitors were not welcome and there had been various confrontations between them and landowners. 1. The church is located on a working farm. There is farmland all around and the roads are small and the grades are steep. If you block a road, tractors cannot safely get by and this affects their ability to work and their livelihood. 2. No one wants people blocking access to their property, which includes their driveway, much less have strangers wandering around their houses and garages. 3. The church sits on private property. As a visitor, you have no right to trespass. Being polite and asking will get you much farther than demanding to park at someone's house and go up to the church. 4. The people who live there are proud of the land. To keep it that way, there are certain things they require (no loud parties, no excessive noise after 11 pm, no walking in the tall grass, no parking in driveways and on the road, etc). 5. It seems obvious but apparently isn't. If you come to see a beautiful place and it is full of tourists who trample the flowers, steal historical items, and leave garbage strewn all around, then it is no longer serene and beautiful. Show the locals some respect and appreciation for the land that they work hard on everyday and you'll have one of the greatest and soul satisfying experiences of your life.
