Positive: Our family of 8 (2 adults and 6 kids) had a wonderful night at Allen Ranch. We booked the glamping tent and adjacent tipi, and Joe, the owner, was incredibly welcoming—meeting us at check-in and walking us to our spacious, scenic campsite tucked next to a beautiful mountain with big trees and rocks the kids loved climbing. Joe had everything set up, including an extra bed in the tipi for our group. Even though we had booked through Booking.com, he only accepts cash or check—something we didn’t realize—but he was relaxed about it and let us settle up the next day. One of the highlights was the nearby river, which runs through the property. The kids loved swimming in it—the water was warmer than expected thanks to nearby hot springs mixing in. The wide-open grounds gave the kids plenty of space to play, and the whole place felt peaceful and relaxed. Joe even made us a hearty breakfast the next morning and took time to chat with us. He’s a kind, genuine person who’s lived in the area all his life and has been running the campground since the ’90s. He told us about large groups staying there previously—it’s definitely a great spot for both families and groups. While the campground is located off a highway (as some reviews note), we stayed in the back near the river and didn’t notice the road noise at all. The location also made it super convenient for exploring the Hot Springs area. We’re so glad we took a chance on this lesser-reviewed spot—it was truly a memorable and special experience. If we’re ever back in Hot Springs, we’d definitely stay here again!

Positive: Joe was an absolute gem. He was warm and exceptionally hospitable and I can’t thank him enough for an amazing stay. The bed in the clamping tent was incredibly comfortable, the hot shower was great for a campground, and the breakfast and area recommendations he gave me were fantastic.

Negative: There is a little road noise that is easily drown out using the fan. The campground is CASH OR CHECK ONLY, so be prepared. There’s an ATM right down the street.
