Positive: The food was generally very good. They have a vegan menu too, which really helped because we dont eat meat. And the service was (on the whole) good, for Ghana. The room was nice, especially the view before the jeeps arrived...

Negative: We had an ocean view room, which turned into a jeep view room on our final day. Four big jeeps arrived onto the beach, with tents on top and around 10 obnoxious people coming out and walking around like they own the place, using the facilities, having showers (using likely the one room that they actually booked). It was not the beautiful beach resort experience we were hoping for in the end. Unless you enjoy the sight of middle-aged white men topless. It also meant we couldn't enjoy our final breakfast in front of the sea, without a topless man within a meter away with his gut out drinking a hot drink at 730am. I think they need to decide whether they are a campsite or a beach resort. You can't really do both. The only main issue with the service was when we pre ordered breakfast at 7:15am to leave at 730am to get to Accra, reminding them too, there was a miscommunication which meant we had to wait and were 30 mins late leaving. Its such a shame that this happened on top of the jeeps arriving at the end. We did mention our issues before we left, and after quickly getting us to pay our tab, we were left with a mere "sorry", which does not really make up for it. Overall, they need to prioritise their hotel customers and not just be trying to make as much money as possible, at the detriment of customer experience.

Positive: We were very, very satisfied with our stay. The rooms are clean, tidy, and equipped with air conditioning, which made our stay very comfortable. We were very well taken care of throughout our visit. We would especially like to mention Afua. She was always friendly, helpful, and attentive, and thanks to her we felt truly welcome and well looked after. 🤍 The location of the hotel is beautiful and very peaceful. The beach is clean and special. Due to the unique conditions, you can walk quite far into the sea, enjoy swimming, and relax in the water. The food was excellent – fresh, delicious, and varied. The entire hotel is very clean and well maintained. Overall, everything was wonderful. We felt comfortable, safe, and very well cared for, and we would happily return. 🌊✨

Positive: Afiki is a real gem of a hotel located right on the beach at the edge of a little Ghanaian fishing village. There has been a clear intention to produce a property and holiday experience that sits with and compliments the local environment rather than shuts it out or replaces it. The pool area and pool were well maintained, the locals were very friendly. The staff were very helpful - serving at the beachfront restaurant and bar and organising transport and giving advice on attractions (a special mention for Kingsford who helped organise our cabs). If you are looking for a peaceful stay in an absolutely beautiful spot, and you prefer the authentic boutique Ghana experience to the standard same as anywhere hotel, I highly recommend Afiki. Go for a seaview room with balcony if they have availability.

Positive: The staff were amazing, accommodating, polite and friendly. Our rooms were clean, looked the same as the pictures and the breakfast was substantial. The beach was clean and we went for a lovely walk and overall managed to have a lovely relaxing time.

Negative: The road there was in pretty bad shape so plan on a longer journey than what google maps says. It's pretty isolated so lovely if you want to switch off but for longer stays hard to easily get out for alternative food options. You have to be prepared to plan well in advance for meals - the food was good but a bit un holiday like to have to order so much in advance.

Summary: A good place to go to completely disconnect!!

Positive: It was close to a beautiful beach and it was also on the corner of a small fishermen village. The location was quiet and peaceful.

Negative: The kind and familiar atmosphere. The nice and super clean rooms - we had two with balcony and ocean view. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The kids liked the pool a lot and loved to play with the kids from the village.

Positive: I liked the fact that I could talk to a member of staff before our arrival. I had received a new replacement card and it may have caused problems with payment. I called to assure them that this was the problem and that I will sort it out on arrival. Efua was very understanding. All got sorted out on arrival at Afiki in the evening. We ordered food and drinks, and it was ready in no time. The beach was right on the doorstep of Afiki. Breakfast the following morning was tasty. All staff we encountered were professional and pleasant.

Positive: We loved our stay at Afiki. It is a hidden gem in a secluded location about 10 minutes drive from Elmina. The staff at the hotel were amazing and the restaurant offered many delicious options made to order. The beach is the highlight with very few people. It was the ultimate place to relax and unwind without anyone bothering you. The hotel offers activities that you can pay to take part in. We did not do this as we just wanted to relax by the ocean. The hotel room was comfortable and the price was very reasonable. We stayed in the Odopa 1 room and there was an amazing balcony to sit on and listen to the ocean waves right outside your door. If you are visiting the Cape Coast and Elmina castles and don’t want to cram everything into one long day, this is a great overnight stop.

Negative: Nothing- I wish we could have stayed longer.
