Positive: The heated pool was wonderful and great fun with children and grandchildren. Lots of space to entertain and large bedrooms all the en-suites. Also a beautiful garden.

Summary: Perfect for larger gatherings. It was a happy family gathering.

Positive: A stunning looking beautiful house in an isolated setting with a fabulous garden and an amazing indoor swimming pool with large windows overlooking the garden but not overlooked by anyone. We had a wonderful time. Kitchen was very well equipped. We felt peaceful and relaxed. There were lots of garden chairs so we could spread out and chill out. Garden was extremely peaceful, lovely bird song and lots of greenery. Lake gave for an idyllic view. All bedrooms were spacious. Great storage space. Plenty of downstairs living accommodation. Large dining table and lots of chairs. Interesting architecture and furnishings. We didn't even make it to the floor above the swimming pool, equipped with sofas, a separate kitchen and a bar. Appliances were good. Hob heated quickly. Oven was spacious and cooked great. Dishwasher was handy and had a fast programme. Two good washing machines, again with a fast programme (although one had some strange stuff in it so we didn't touch). Shame the ice function on the fridge/freezer wasn't plumbed. Oh, and did I mention an amazing swimming pool. Access was easy and hassle free. Hosts responded quickly. We really enjoyed our week but we had to overlook what became just too many issues

Negative: Bathrooms were random, some really nice and some dated. One of the showers was blocked when we arrived (we sorted with Mr Muscle). One of the shower heads squirted madly in all directions. One bedroom blind cord was broken. Part of the upstairs smelled of damp/drains. This smell came in waves. Made one of the bathrooms in particular pretty unusable and one of the bedrooms was a bit smelly. The smell also came up outside around the house at times. The bedroom with the water tank was really hot. There were two fans but really they were needed in all bedrooms. We'd read a review about being disturbed during the stay so we specifically asked not to be (Covid, vulnerable parents with us). Yet one day we were sitting in the garden and two men appeared, wanting to chat. We were a bit shocked and in the middle of nowhere it felt a bit threatening. After a few minutes they said they were the gardeners, weren't we expecting them? No. They'd only be 1.5 hours. Not at all ideal when we were using the garden on a hot day with three little girls running round in swim stuff. Fortunately they changed their minds and headed off. In the last few days, the "I think I saw something" showed itself as a mouse. Owner offered to call pest control but we were leaving in a couple of days, didn't want to be disturbed during Covid nor to have traps in the living room because of the little kids. On packing up, we found our food stuff full of mouse droppings.

Summary: Wonderful house and a great stay but let down by a few niggles
