Positive: We stayed for three nights at Aashray Homestay in Varanasi, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The homestay is located on the first floor of the house, beautifully furnished, bright, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. It felt cozy and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The absolute highlight of our stay, however, were our hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Kapur. They are two incredibly intelligent, well-traveled, and warm-hearted people who enriched our time in Varanasi with their stories, knowledge, and thoughtful recommendations. Mrs. Kapur’s breakfast was simply exceptional, delicious, lovingly prepared, and a real treat every morning. If you’re looking for a truly authentic experience and want to be welcomed with open arms into a local household, Aashray is the perfect choice. As the Kapurs told us, “Aashray” means shelter - and that’s exactly how we felt: sheltered and at peace, every time we returned from the hustle and bustle of Varanasi.

Positive: The location was on a quiet road off the main road, which was great after the chaos of Varanasi traffic. We were made to feel welcome from the start. The room was very comfortable with a balcony. It was clean and had a good shower. There was extra snacks and fruit with tea and coffee. The bed was comfortable. The breakfasts were very tasty and all home cooked. It gave us a good idea of Indian food,and lots of it. The hosts had lots of information and booked a taxi to the airport for us. We used tuk tuks to get to the ghats, which worked well, but they couldn't always find the homestay, so we directed them with Google maps. The hosts wanted to make sure we had a good experience of Varanasi, which we did!

Negative: I think the room was slightly over priced, but it wouldn't stop us from returning

Positive: Kamal and Manjou are lovely warm and kind hosts who will take care of all your needs.. Our room was clean and comfortable and we especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the world go by.

Negative: There was a lot of noise from the metal workshop next door, and also during our stay there were building works on the house the other side, which prevented us from enjoying the balcony in peace..

Positive: Everything about Aashray is worth mentioning. The accommodation is very comfortable, very clean with all amenities provided. The best part is the mouth watering breakfast made by Mrs Kapoor. Mr Kapoor is a treasure of information about Varanasi and both of them made us feel at home.
