Positive: Very unique place with super-nice hosts Katherine and Michel ! The apartment was spacious, with private entrance and dedicated patio and parking space. Large saloon with well equipped kitchen and separate bedroom. Comfortable for longer stay. One must only remember to bring own groceries, there are no shops or markets nearby. Altos del Maria is a special place, an enclave in the mountains with guarded entrances. Special microclimate, with comfortable 28-29 degrees when on the coast in the same time was 35. The flora in this valley was surprisingly unique, different than in any other place we’ve been in Panama. Very helpful and nice hosts, before arrival explained how to get through the Altos gates and find this place in the middle of the valley. We also had some quality time together with our hosts, drinking coconut water from their own palm...

Positive: Lovely, peaceful property with generous hosts. We enjoyed meeting Katherine & Michel and spending time sipping coconut juice from their tree while we chatted on their patio. The apartment is well-equipped, nicely decorated and you have lots of room. You can walk to the river trail from their home. What made this stay so special was the personal touches from Katherine & Michel. They invited us to snacks & coconut juice, Michel gave me a tour of their yard and allowed us to pick fresh herbs & fruit and they gave us tips on where to hike, etc...

Negative: My allergies acted up while we were there and there was a musty smell in the apartment, but it soon cleared up once we left the windows open and fans on.

Positive: The owners, Katherine and Michel, are one of most lovely and welcoming hosts we ever met! They were astonishing helpful and attentive with everything (like what to see, how to find the place, etc). Even we arrived well before the normal check-in time, we were welcomed to obtain the keys to the appartment. The appartment was/is big, extremely clean and neat - we felt „at home“. It is a real H(E)AVEN OF TRANQUILITY, a silent area with birds singing around you, some hiking trails with waterfalls in the rainforest and if you drive a bit with your own car along the main street you will have fantastic views. If you seek for a tranquil timeout, this is your place.

Summary: H(e)aven of Tranquility - We regret that we could not stay longer.
