Positive: Denzil and Gys made us feel completely at home and treated us like family throughout our three-week stay. Their hospitality, helpful local advice, excellent security and secure parking made us feel welcome and safe, while their scrumptious, mouth-watering breakfasts were a real highlight.
Negative: There was honestly nothing we disliked about our stay. Our only disappointment was having to leave after such a wonderful three weeks.
Summary: A wonderfully warm, safe and memorable stay with exceptional hosts who treated us like family.

Positive: It was conveniently located from the airport and from town. Enjoyed the quiet ambience and friendly staff. The host was amazing, great cook and very hospitable.
Negative: Mosquitoes. I wish the room could have been sprayed well in advance before arrival or to provide a mosquito net for each room (save cost on buying mosquito spray everytime)
Summary: It was an amazing time spent. I’ddefinitely come back if i am ever in Pietermaritzburg again

Positive: The accommodation was certainly unusual. It was like stepping back in time or into a museum. I enjoyed making up stories about the items I found in the rooms. Great space with everything you need and plenty of a variety of plug points. Beautiful garden. Safe and secure. What really made my stay though were the fantastic hosts. From the warm welcome when we got there, the easy conversation to going out of their way to meet our needs. Facilitating an early check-in eventhough the rooms were occupied the previous day, upgrading one of our rooms at no cost to make us as comfortable as possible and having an iron in the ready, knowing we had very little time to get ready for the wedding we were attending.
Negative: It's not the fanciest place and because it's so old, it was a little musty but it's charm, value for money and great hosts more than made up for anything I can complain about. *I've just read the owner's response and ...Yeah ...speechless. Catty much! Not a great look when you're in the hospitality industry. ** Also, I asked if we could possibly check-in between 12.30pm and 1pm as we were attending a wedding at 2pm. We only ended up arriving at the property just after 1pm. My sister, who I reserved one of the three rooms for, actually left a day earlier and paid for an extra night in case early check-in was going to be a challenge. So to say we asked for 3 hours leeway is a bit of a stretch. I felt I needed to clarify that.

Positive: The bnb is conveniently located close the the Pietermaritzburg Airport. I loved how comfy and beautifully decorated everything was. Gys and Denzel considered every detail and were amazing hosts ! This was a short and last minute trip and I wish I could have stayed longer. Highly recommend !
