The area is well recognised for its clear skies and is one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world, and the first Dark Sky Park in the UK. On your doorstep is the Red Kite Feeding Station where the red kites are fed daily at 2pm, it really is a joy to watch. Summary: My son and I were working In Gelston and this place was an ideal retreat after a hard day’s work. I liked it so much I’ve taken photos to show my wife and we’re hoping to book for a week in spring or summer. Many thanks to Debs for allowing us to stay in such a fantastic place.

Summary: A lovely traditional stone cottage, sympathetically renovated with character, and all you could wish for a relaxing holiday. Beautiful setting with views of Loch Ken just a field away. Lovely walks and lots of wildlife. Owner Debs had decorated the cottage for Christmas with a tree and present and hamper. It couldnt have been more delightful. Plenty of wood for the burner, we were really cosy. Very comfortable beds with lovely linen. Well equipped kitchen with all we needed to cook Christmas lunch.

Summary: Beautiful cottage photos don’t do it justice,we had a lovely relaxing time,fabulous views,great for our old dog swimming in the river and hubby was very happy with his successful fishing would definitely return.The owners left a very nice welcome pack lovely people happy to help if you need them.

Summary: We had a fantastic holiday at the Camp Douglas Cottage. We were fortunate to have great weather which enabled us to use the lovely garden which had beautiful views. The town was just a short drive away with lovely tea rooms and restaurants. We had lovely walks with our dog and a trip to the beach. Debbie was very helpful when we arrived and said to give her a call if we needed anything. I would thoroughly recommend the cottage to family and friends and would love to go back. Angela,Tom, Thomas and Dorje our dog.

Summary: It was perfect. grounds included 5 fields that were arable so no livestock in them, so our Collie enjoyed that freedom, always a payoff in that the fields made a little hard walking. but fishing in Ken Loch is included in the rights to fish that stretch of the Loch, caught 5 Perch but the American Crayfish are a nuisance. But would easily rebook
