Positive: Style. Design forward oasis in Guangzhou Setting. A hideaway pleasingly only 10 minutes taxi from Guangzhou South station, which is only one hour train ride from Hong Kong Explore. Guangzhou’s suburbs, the heart of Guangzhou is 25 minutes away Rooms. Over 40 rooms. I was in room 1313 which faced the hill with a path to the Daxianggang Forest Park, and had a huge outdoor soaking tub on a balcony that overlooked the infinity pool and outdoor fire pit. Bathroom had toiletries from Melbourne’s Grown Alchemist. As the mercury hit 9 celsius at one point, I was grateful the room was heated up and toasty when I checked in (many hotels Hong Kong and Shenzhen do not have heaters). Also, I am so used to Japanese hotels’ 10 am checkout policies that Suyab’s 2 pm check in and 2 pm checkout was a pleasant surprise. @ the hotel. Hotel not catered for foreigners, visa/AE not accepted so AliPay /Wechat etc only. Hotel owned by a furniture company, well curated playful artwork, and furniture throughout for sale Food & drinks. Good food I was especially happy with the sumptuous dinner, I devoured cucumbers, abalones, sea conch, veggies with crab meat, and the bill was only 500 rmb(US$69 !) You remember you are in China as while the restaurant had a lovely selection of teas, but wine only sold by the bottle. All the liquors at the restaurant’s were for display only, to get a gin tonic I had to walk down to the bistro (the hotel’s buzzy Western restaurant) to order it and bring it back myself Prices. $274 Rating. 4/5 A great weekender option
