Positive: The staff, especially this one lady at the reception, were very nice. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. To be honest, for the money we spent, we were surprised with the quality.

Negative: The doors to the shared spaces were not very sound proof and we heard when people were going in and out of their rooms but it was no big deal.

Summary: we had a really nice stay.

Positive: The location is excellent for visits to the magnificent church and to the local village shops. The staff were extremely helpful, especially so after the terrible hail storm we experienced there that damaged our car.

Negative: We did not get the room we wanted with a balcony overlooking the valley of the kings that I thought I had booked. We were told that room was for three guests and we were just a couple! We have always had that room in the past and we wanted it again, and as far as I know it was unoccupied during our stay. The double bed had on it a cheap and very lumpy mattress that was not at all comfortable to sleep on. The window leaked in the right hand corner and the carpet and our things on the floor below it got soaking wet in the rain. The restaurant no longer offers a breakfast menu, you get what you are served and that is it. The waste bins for rubbish and where you throw your used toilet paper, as you are not allowed to throw toilet paper in the toilets in Bulgaria, were never emptied during our stay. Our towels were also not changed.

Summary: Disappointing, based on previous visits to this hotel.

Positive: Friendly staff. Ready parking (February). Restaurant open all day and evening. Helped with gluten allergy friendly meals. Good location for visiting Russian church. Shipka and Budluzhda within easy driving distance (weather permitting)

Negative: Payment by card was not possible for our visit
