Casolare tipicamente toscano, appena finito di restaurare, sulle colline del Mugello a soli 30 minuti dalla città di Firenze. La villa è arredata con gusto tipicamente country con grande attenzione ai dettagli. La Casa è strutturata su due piani ed ha diversi ingressi. Al piano terreno troviamo una grande cucina con doppio piano di lavoro e di cottura, sia in muratura che con un mobile arredo moderno e molto funzionale dotato di lavastoviglie, colonna forni (sia tradizionale che microonde), frigorifero a doppia anta e una zona dispensa separata. Dalla cucina si accede alla sala da pranzo molto ampia con un grande tavolo con comode sedute e un camino e gli affacci sulla loggia esterna e sul giardino. Completa la parte comune una sala relax, con divani e tv, all’interno della quale si trova un antico pozzo, finemente ristrutturato e messo in sicurezza, un particolare che risale al 1500 e da il nome alla casa che si trova in quello che anticamente veniva chiamato Castel San Barnaba (oggi Scarperia). Al piano terra troviamo due camere matrimoniali con bagno en-suite (di cui una per portatore di handicap). Salendo le scale (doppio accesso sia dalla sala pranzo che dalla sala relax) al primo piano troviamo cinque grandi camere da letto, tutte con bagno en-suite: due matrimoniali, una matrimoniale con due letti a castello, una tripla con il letto aggiunto sul soppalco e una tripla con un letto alla francese e un letto singolo. A disposizione degli ospiti anche una zona lavanderia al primo piano e un bagno di servizio al piano terra. La villa può ospitare comodamente fino a 18 persone. In esterno una loggia attrezzata con tavoli e sedie per mangiare all’aperto che da sul parco molto curato, in cui ci sono un forno a legna completamente restaurato, un grande barbecue, una piscina (altezza 130 cm) con solarium attrezzata con un gazebo con tavolini e sedie. Completa la proprietà un delizioso orto che metterà i suoi frutti a disposizione degli ospiti, per un pranzo a km zero e completamente biologico. L’accesso alla Villa è garantito da due cancelli e parcheggio per le auto.
Il Pozzo di San Barnaba si trova all’interno di una strada privata da cui si ha accesso ad un ristorante e un maneggio. A pochi minuti si trovano supermercati, aree gioco, i paesi di Scarperia, Borgo San Lorenzo, Barberino di Mugello, numerose fattorie, locande artigianali e soprattutto moltissimi luoghi pieni di storia da visitare (La Casa di Giotto a Vicchio, l’Antico Mulino Romanico di Ronta, la Villa di Cafaggiolo, Il Convento di Bosco ai Frati, Il Palazzo dei Vicari di Scarperia…) ma anche luoghi moderni che attirano molto i turisti (Autodromo internazionale del Mugello, Aviosuperficie per alianti ed elicotteri e Barberino Designer Outlet).

Summary: The pictures don’t do it justice. We loved everything about our Tuscan villa. We booked it for our family of 17 for our 50th wedding anniversary. The rooms with private baths were splendid. The big kitchen and spacious indoor and outdoor dining tables were perfect for family meals. The grounds were beautiful and included a garden with fresh produce plus chickens with fresh eggs. The pool swallowed up the kids. The location made it easy to take a train into Florence or a day trip to Modena. Scarperia itself is a jewel with its knife museum and knife shops. The chef recommended by the host was fabulous. We loved the feeling of the house and all the decor. The host and her husband did a fabulous job restoring an old farmhouse leaving in place some of the vestiges of its antiquity. We did have a problem with an insect infestation but the host took care of it immediately so were able to mange around it without too much trouble. All in all, we could not imagine finding something as good as this was and we recommend it highly.

Summary: We rented this house for almost a week to celebrate a 30th birthday and had an incredible time. The house was fantastic and very comfortable with our group of ~15 people. Large, well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable bedrooms each with a bathroom with a shower. We spent every evening outside around the large dinner table, from sunset to late hours, taking in the great views of the Tuscan countryside. Sharing stories with family and friends, eating good food and drinking delicious Tuscan wine. It was honestly perfect. Simona is also the nicest and helped with every little question we had both before and during our stay. She really put in the effort of making our birthday celebrations special. Most notably, she helped us arrange for chef Benedetta, who owns and runs a local restaurant, to come and cook the birthday dinner for us. We set up a whole menu with Benedetta that would suite everyone's dietary restrictions, and it was delicious. The house is also close to the train station which was very important for us as everyone was traveling separately, both arriving and leaving on different days and times. People could comfortably make their way between Borgo San Lorenzo and Florence all throughout the day. We also rented a car, which I would say is a must if you're staying here with a large group, both to drive people and go grocery shopping. If you have the option to come here, I would highly urge you too. Can't imagine we would've had a better week anywhere else.

Summary: We're a group of 11 adults who stayed at Il Pozzo di San Barnaba in Sept 2023. The home was perfect for us! Each of the 7 bedrooms has an en suite bathroom, the kitchen is well appointed, and the outdoor space can't be beat. Our cooking class with Benedetta was a trip highlight – you must have her cook for/with you! The property is remote but a quick drive into town. We rented cars but only used them to and from the property with our luggage, and for quick trips into Borgo San Lorenzo or Scarperia for groceries, restaurants and to catch the train. We took the train from Borgo San Lorenzo into Florence for day trips and it was really easy. The property manager, Simona, was great to communicate with before and during our stay. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay in Tuscany!

Summary: The property was an excellent choice for us. Plenty for the children to do (away from shops!) Easy access to Florence for days out. Eating together was made easy inside and outside by big long tables that accommodated us all. So meals were great times of chat among the various parents, children and grandparents. The pool was wonderful! A good time was had by all.
