The cottage is located in one of the hamlets of the town of Bourg Saint Maurice whose name is "Les Echines Dessous".
At 1230m above sea level, this is an authentic place where many stables are located where the cows will produce the milk that will be used to make the famous Beaufort.
Located 7 km from the center of Bourg, the cottage is 10 minutes from the departure of the funicular allowing access to the ARCS.
Within a radius of 20km, there are the major resorts in the Tarentaise Valley: Paradiski, La Plagne, La Rosière or Sainte Foy. A little further, you reach the fabulous area of Tignes - Val d'Isère.
By putting on seal skins, leaving the chalet directly, you can explore the south side of the valley (Versant du soleil) and its huge wilderness.
In summer too, there are many activities: cycling or mountain biking, descent of Isère in rafting or canoeing, climbing, walking, the sector allows many hikes in the peaks overlooking the village. The Mont Blanc massif is very close as well as Italy.

Summary: In the moment you enter the house you immediately know it will be a wonderful stay. The view through the large windows that cover the entire space between the floor and the roof is huge. You don't just see the mountains, you feel like you are in them. Actually you are in a very cosy, lovely arranged home with everything a family would have for its own use. Including books, CDs, a perfectly equipped kitchen, nice furrniture and much more. The bed I used was very comfortable. The tiny village is very calm. Without snow on the road, in 10 minutes drive you are in Bourg Saint Maurice, from which you can directly take the cableway to the large ski domain Les Arcs. Directly from the home you can easily huike up the mountain. Gerad has been a very helpful host, readily answering the few questions that arose during my stay. It felt like being his guest, rather than in a commercial situation. I wish I would live closer to Les Echines to more easily repeat a visit in this wonderful place.

Summary: We have stayed a week in Gerard's apartment with great enjoyment. The view's are breathtaking and with some french music you imagine yourself in a dream. The house is comfortable and situated at a quiet location. Many places are easy to reach by foot and bicycle or car. By car one needs to be able to drive comfortably on small mountain roads and hairpins for most of the region. We hartily recommend this place and are likely to return sometime in the future. Renate
