Positive: We loved the pool, the beach and the two restaurants and not forgetting the staff.

Negative: We absolutely loved the hotel. However, the staff on the front desk could speak better English. Sometimes it was hard to communicate. The hotel is located on a secluded island so there is absolutely nowhere to go. If you are planning on staying more than 3 nights you might start to get a bit bored because in the evenings you can only go for dinner, the hotel does not provide anything to do. We stayed at another secluded 5-star hotel in Koh Rong, and they offered a lovely seating area on the beach with happy hour cocktails and lovely music to watch the sunset every evening. They also offered a movie night on the beach twice a week. Not sure whether this would work at this hotel, but it would be nice to offer something in the evening. Maybe a little bar on the beach with some soft music.

Summary: Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, relaxing hotel perfect for a short stay.

Positive: The best thing is the beach. It is an unbelievably beautiful and serene stretch of beach with calm water and plenty of shade. Staff are all very young, struggle with English but a lot go out of their way to please and make up for the hard product shortcomings. The food is well executed if you stick to Cambodian and Asian dishes but gets repetitive and limited. Absolutely no consistency in service.

Negative: A lot of the positive reviews here are from clients staying in the pool villas. However we booked three sea view rooms and had a ton of problems with unbreathable mouldy smells, sewage smell, hot water issues and we had to change rooms several times. The location is amazing but since their covid shut down there is a massive capex backlog which is not really being addressed.

Summary: An amazing location let down by lack of management and investment

Positive: This resort is as peaceful as it gets. Some days felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. Staff was fantastic, incredibly helpful and friendly.

Negative: This is a personal preference and nothing against the resort, but there is nothing else on Koh Russei other than the resort. My family and I are more the type to get our and adventure, getting a feel for the culture of the places we visit. This was not possible here without paying for a boat and taxi back to the mainland and a return trip. If relaxation and getting away from everything is your ideal vacation, though, this is the place for you.

Positive: Beautiful secluded beach in a well preserved island, just few minutes away from mainland in a comfortable speed boat. The hotel premises are outstanding, just as depicted in the photos and the staff is incredibly attentive.

Negative: Almost nothing, just would be useful to activate YouTube app in the room’s TV.

Positive: 1) The food is done well. ,The menu isn't extensive, but what they have is done well and served with the utmost intent to please. One night the chief asked what we would like and we requested a not too spicy menu course of his favorite Cambodian dishes-It was the stuff! Who needs an extensive menu when the chief will try to accomodate! I miss my morning breakfast and cappuccino in the Horizon dining room. 2) The property! From our private ocean front pool/villa, the patchy spots of pine needles on the beach, the pool, the grounds, and the quiet. We splurged on the villa, but I would have no problem staying in one of the deluxe rooms-all have a wonderful private balcony/patio.

Negative: There were issues with hot water. The first night, we could only get warm water. Brought the matter to attention of staff and maintenance made a fix. Still, not as hot as we wanted. Next night, no hot water again. This time, we had to change villas. Thankful they were able to do that but a bit annoying. To compensate, the hotel provided us with a complementary after teen service on the beach. However, after our Spa treatment, there was no hot water from the Spa shower. The resort seems to be undergoing renovations, and this issue will not deter me from going back. I'll just remind them to assure that hot water is ready to go. Also, the website advertises experiences. We wanted to go mountain bike riding. The bikes, well, they had seen their best days. One had no breaks and the other just couldn't really shift gears. Snorkeling equipment needs updated too.

Summary: Excellent Value for 5 Star Experience
