Summary: On arrival we found the property to be dirty. Used soap, dishcloths and dirty basins and baths. In the whole property there was one sheet ( piece) of loo roll. We advised the owner who replied the next morning but by then we had already been to the supermarket to buy cleaning stuff and of course loo roll. Then , when we removed the pool cover we discovered the pool was dirty - algae and leaves. The owner sent a cleaner the next day who was brilliant but the algae just continued to be a problem . The property is near a road which is not too much of an issue but the neighbours dogs bark a lot…day & night. The house is big and the bathrooms well appointed but unfortunately the housekeeping issues and noisy neighbours meant our holiday was not the tranquil experience we had hoped for.

Summary: Beautiful house, well decorated and kitted our. Bathrooms stunning! Really appreciated the bed linen although beds on the short side. Everything you really need including gorgeous pool. Isabella was enchanting and really helpful.

Summary: A lovely house, old and full of character but well-maintained. Decorated and furnished in lovely style. Fabulous bathrooms! Loads of space both inside and outside. The pool is gorgeous, with lavender and rosemary planted beside it. We enjoyed watching the butterflies and the little lizards and rabbits in the garden. Amazing birdsong early in the mornings. Location is just what we look for - rural, quiet but not too far to get to local town and interesting places to visit. Great for easy cycling trips nearby on the canal du midi towpath at Castelnaudary and the voie verte between Castres and Albi.

Summary: The house was great and met our needs. Isabelle was very good at giving the tour and checking we had settled in without being obtrusive. The surrounding area lacks a little in places to eat locally, but we enjoyed eating at the house on the terrace using the facilities indoors and the barbecue. The pool was used every day extensively due to the lovely weather. Revel and Castres are worth a visit, but everywhere seems very quiet ((closed!) on a Monday. Overall, a lovely time to relax and catch up.

Summary: We had an overall wonderful stay in Martin's house during the 2018 summer heatwave. Thank goodness for the pool in 38 degree heat! The house has lots of great space, inside and out, and was perfect for the children in our group, who were 3, 7 and 10. Everything was in great condition, and there is ample equipment/furniture in the kitchen, around the pool and from a practical perspective too. Not all of the photos in the listing do the property justice - the size and condition of the bathrooms and bedrooms especially was really impressive. We didn't explore the area as much as we'd have liked because of the heat and the pull of the pool, with just a day out in the amazing Carcassonne to break our stay up in the week. A couple of things we think future guests should know. The house got very hot, especially upstairs at night, but we were there during an unusually warm period. That, combined with the traditional French beds (with solid foot ends), meant that sleep during the week wasn't always the best for the couple of us that couldn't fully stretch out in bed (we just caught up on the loungers by the pool!). But most importantly, when we booked, the property was listed with a check in time of 4pm and check out time of 11am, both of which we had complications with. Check in is actually 6pm and Isabella the housekeeper turned up at 9am on our last morning, which made for a rushed departure, which was unfortunate. In total, only a difference of 4 hours to our stay, just unfortunate that it impacted our first night and last morning, so hopefully useful for people to know in advance. But none of that will affect our overall enjoyment of our stay in Martin's lovely house, and we would very much recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet location with great facilities in a beautiful part of France.

Summary: Stayed here for one week with my two sons (11 and 13) - everyone had a great time with an equal measure of castle visits and pool fun. The house is big and airy and is well equipped. Outside, badminton in the garden, table tennis and the huge pool. The pool is great for kids with a walkway around the deeper part so that children are never out of their depth. The area around Bertre is quiet and rural. All in all a great week away from it all.

Summary: Just returned from a week in this property. Lovely location in rolling countryside, very well furnished and equipped. Perfect large pool, plenty of space in the house for 8 people and full of character. Everyone throughly enjoyed themselves. Would go again,

Summary: We spent two glorious weeks in this beautiful property. The house is stunning - very old but with all mod cons. Whilst it maintains its old charm the owners have put in modern bathrooms which are beautiful, a dishwasher in the kitchen with plenty of crockery and a washing machine in the utility area should you travel light or need to wash anything. The bedrooms are all roomy with plenty of storage space. Downstairs there is a large kitchen diner, a lounge with a TV and a library for peace and quiet. All rooms have comfortable furnishings which help you feel very 'at home'. There is a lot of space here, inside and out. The pool area is surrounded by a patio edged with lavender and the pool itself is large enough to swim 'lengths'. There is space for children to kick a ball around and to play and a garage where you will find pool inflatables and games. It is useful to leave the car in here too to keep it cool. You will need a car here as it is quite rural and to explore the area. Puylaurens is the nearest town for supermarkets and Patisseries. We also visited Albi, Toulouse and Carcassonne to name a few. The house is private and accessed via electric gates which makes it feel very secure. The housekeeper is lovely and very helpful even though we didn't speak particularly good French. We arrived very late and she was there to meet us and give us a tour. There was also a 'welcome pack' of the bare essentials to get us through the first morning. The owner was very helpful when we needed advice and was very quick to respond to emails and texts. We had such a lovely holiday here that we are considering booking again.

Summary: Ideal for families with children that like swimming in the lovely pool. The photos did not do justice to the beautiful countryside Everything to hand in the kitchen for home cooked meals. The house and pool were very clean and the caretakers were very friendly and helpful. A little French language us a help. The nearby village of Puy Lauren had a typical French market on Wednesdays. An excellent Cave to purchase local wine. The town of Revel has a very large market on Saturdays with areas outside the town to picnic or swim in the Lake. An ideal place to relax.
